Rethinking the Promises of Advanced Recycling

Advanced recycling is just another industry scam, perpetuating the use of plastic and fossil fuels while exploiting taxpayer money for private gain.

The truth is, the real solution lies in reducing our overall plastic consumption and embracing reusable and sustainable alternatives. It’s time to revisit the days of glass bottles and bid farewell to those flimsy plastic bags. Instead of blindly accepting the convenience of plastic-wrapped avocados or single-use water bottles.

The allure of advanced recycling promised a silver bullet for the plastic waste crisis. However, it is evident that these claims are misleading, and the underlying motivation is more aligned with maintaining the status quo rather than finding genuine solutions.

Instead of investing in advanced recycling technologies that have questionable outcomes, we should focus on reducing plastic at its source and promoting a regenerative circular economy.

Individual actions alone are not enough. We need political will and strong regulations to drive systemic change. It’s time for governments to step up and hold corporations and polluters accountable for their actions. By implementing regulations that incentivize source reduction of single-use plastics, we can tackle the root cause of the problem. Additionally, fostering a regenerative circular economy, where products are designed for reuse and true recycling, will create a sustainable framework for the future.

We must elect leaders who prioritize the well-being of people and the planet over private interests. It’s time to reduce the industry’s environmental footprint and create a future where sustainability is at the core of our choices.
